Ladies and Brethren,
This is my first message as Master of the Lodge. I would like to introduce myself and give you an idea of what direction I would like to take the Lodge.
I was born in Columbus, Nebraska into a healthy, secure family. Under my father’s leadership; kindness, honesty, and fairness prevailed in our family. He was Master of the Columbus Lodge in 1955. All I remember is that he was a Mason, and we were told to make sure his apron was used properly when the time came. Unfortunately, it was used for the intended purpose over 30 years ago now.
My wife, Sharon, and I have been married for almost 39 years. We agreed early on that raising our kids was our top priority. They are now ages 34, 29, and 24, and we’re really proud of them.
I joined the Masons in 2004, here in Papillion Lodge. Here, and in the other Masonic bodies I have joined, I have discovered a whole bunch of men very much like my Dad. I now wish I had joined Masonry long ago!
I am optimistic about the future of Papillion Lodge. The key to our future success will be to attract and keep new members. We need to attract them to our Lodge, and then make sure that they want to make the Lodge an integral part of their lives.
My optimism is based on several factors. First, Masons have been getting a good deal of publicity lately, mostly positive. Second, in our Lodge we have several young Masons who are very intelligent, energetic, and enthusiastic. They are learning all they can about Masonry, and coming up with new ideas and making them happen. Finally, I’ve already mentioned that we have some wonderful role models in the “old timers” that spend countless hours contributing to the health and growth of the Lodge, especially by helping us “new guys”. In addition, the response of our Brethren to our appeal for donations in addition to dues has been excellent. We have a solid base of good Masons in our Lodge.
For the good of Masonry, I would like to take this opportunity to request all the help, aid, and assistance I can get in performing my duties. I am looking forward to a fun and rewarding year for all. Thanks to all of you for being part of my Masonic family.
Fraternally yours,
Bro. Jim Lee
Worshipful Master
