Dear Sisters and Brothers,
We are just back from the Grand Chapter session in Lincoln, what a wonderful time and what a great turn-out from our Chapter! We had 20 members present to see our own Sister Jerrie installed as Associate Grand Ma-tron, I know she was touched by all the support she received. Now we get to spend a year preparing to have a Worthy Grand Matron from Papillion Chapter, I know you will all step up to help when we call upon you for assistance.
Brethren, I wanted to remind everyone I need articles by the 20th of the month, so I can publish the Trestleboard on time. Also The annual Papillion Masonic Picnic is approaching and I am interested to hear any ideas members have to continue making this a fun and exciting event. I also will be looking for volunteers to help with setting up, food preparation and cleaning up.
Brethren:
This month has gone by fast. On May 5th we finished our lodge proficiency. It was a good feeling to get that be-hind us. We still need some fine-tuning but will keep working on it.
On May 9th we had our annual Papillion Masonic Family rummage sale. Sales were down this year and so were our receipts. There has been some discussion that we may want to skip a year before we have another one. If you have any thoughts on this please let me know.
There will be a very short meeting, for the purpose of posting Bro. Paul Scott Land in the 3rd degree. The meeting will then close and the evening will continue with degree practice, I have not been told which degree but, we have a FC on the 16th, a MM on the 23rd and on the stated meeting of the 9th we will be voting on two candidates for the degrees, one for reinstatement and reading another application for reinstatement. The Sr Steward assures me there will be refreshments following the meeting of the 2nd. Please plan to attend one or more of these evenings.
Brethren:
We have a couple of yearly events coming up this month. On May 9th we will have our lodge rummage sale from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM. Please bring items to sell beginning May 4th. Call Noland at 731-4698 if you need help. We need help to set up for the sale on May 6th and the day of the rummage sale. Please let Noland or myself know if you can help.
Brethren,
I have recently took over responsibility for the Trestleboard from W.B George Bolter. I wanted to thank him for his efforts and wish him well in his new position. Also I assumed responsibility for Coffee on the Square and am looking for different topics the membership is interested in. This Saturday’s topic will be DeMolay and Mike Stuhr will be presenting. The future of our organization will be built with today’s DeMolay members, so come and listen to his talk.
The Chapter has a fund raiser, a Mexican Dinner, coming up on May 2nd, from 11am to 6pm, the monies raised will help the boys be able to afford to go to Conclave and Shrine Bowl, both coming up in July. If a success the boys are looking to repeat in September to help defer costs of Dad Land Day, the weekend nearest the 12th of November to go to Kansas City where DeMolay started and the Grand Masters Class, which is a state wide initiation, usually in December in Hastings.
The annual Papillion Masonic Family dinner and tour of the Nebraska Masonic Home is scheduled for Thursday, June 4th. All members and prospective members of the Papillion Masonic Organizations are cordially invited to join in this fun and interesting evening.
We will carpool from the Papillion Masonic Center at 5:30 P. M. or if you wish to drive to the home directly, be there at 6:15 P. M. for dinner. A free will offering is suggested for the dinner.
We need a head count for the attendance so that the cooks can prepare enough food for the dinner.
