Brethren:
We have ordered a new hot water boiler for our furnace to replace the broken heat exchanger. The building committee put in a lot of time looking for a replacement heat exchanger but due to the age of our unit, was unable find one. After meeting with several heating and air conditioning companies, the committee made the recommendation to put in the boiler. This is a costly expense, about $38,000.00, that was not budgeted. We will need to pay for this out of our investment account. There have been a couple of suggestions as to how to help recoup the expense. I would like to hear from anyone that has any suggestions on ways to raise money to help with this expense. I would like to thank the building committee for all the time spent on resolving the heat exchanger problem.

October 3rd is our 2nd Mexican dinner fund raiser, 11AM to 5PM. Just as before $5 gets you two tacos, beans, rice and beverage...additional tacos, beans, rice and or nachos $1 each. The balance of the month is quiet for us. We are getting ready for Dad Land day in November and an expected Grand Master's class in December. Your support is always appreciated, we are still looking for more boys (we were up to 6 boys at the last stated meeting) and additional advisors would also be more than welcome.

Bethel #53 had a good time at the pizza party that the Lodge had for the Job's and DeMolay and their prospective members on Sept. 1st. We had one prospective member attend in addition to six adults and members attending. We also had a Mason take petitions home for his two daughters. We hope to have some new members soon. We want to thank the Masons for having the pizza party for us.
On September 14th, the Council Installation was held. The new Council officers are:

Happy Birthday Joe

JOE STOUPA, the Jordan Medal brother for Papillion #39, will be 90 years young on October 9. To help Joe celebrate this big milestone we are suggesting everyone surprise him with a birthday card. He will be very appreciative. Cards can be sent to:
Joe Stoupa
Nebraska Masonic Home
1300 Avenue "D"
Plattsmouth, NE 68048
My wife and I visited Joe recently and found him to be in good spirits. He looked good and seems to be doing well even with some health issues. His power cart enables him to get around the home on his own. We had a good visit with Joe. I am sure he appreciated the visit.

From the Secretary

Registration cutoff for this is before our meeting, the deadline is October 2. I will make extra copies for any that needs them if theirs are lost or damaged.

September is looking like a very busy month. The 1st will be Youth Night here at the Lodge and the 2nd will be our stated meeting. On the 8th we will be serving the Lodge at their "Back to Lodge" night dinner, the 14th will be our informal meeting night, and the 19th will be our 2nd taco lunch fundraiser.
