Words from the East

Brethren,
The year is winding done, but we still have many activities and degree work ahead. This month we have our Mobile Food Pantry after COTS on November 5. If you have time stay after COTS and help with this community project. The last one this past summer we gave away about 3,500 lbs of food and they are bringing more this time.

Florence Chapter #61 R.A.M.

Companions,
I have an update on the bylaw amendment process I mentioned last month. When the bylaw amendment was initially proposed, we were not aware that at some point the Grand Chapter bylaws prohibited a chapter from taking the name of a town. The charter for Florence Chapter long predates this prohibition. Though several possibilities for alternative names were proposed, no name that fit with our chapter was chosen. Therefore, the bylaw amendment was voted down by the membership. I want to thank everyone for their patience and diligence in this process.

Crusade Chapter DeMolay

We are still hurting for members. Currently we are in contact with three of the girls groups, JOBS and Rainbow, with the hope of talking with the members we can recruit the brothers of the appropriate age.

A. L. Crump tells the story of talkative Senator who started his after-dinner speech with "I am a Senator. I am going to talk about 'S' for Sincerity, 'E' for Effort, 'N' for Nobility, 'A' for Application, 'T' for Temperance, 'O' for Order and 'R' for Reliability." Then he proceeded to speak for two hours. When it was finally at an end, one Knight Templar turned to another and sighed with relief. "Let's be thankful," he said, "that our speaker wasn't a Right Eminent Department Commander."

Job's Daughters

It is official – Bethel #1 Jobs Daughters International is now meeting at the Papillion Masonic Center! Our official meetings will be the 2nd and 4th Sundays of every month at 2:00pm. We are very excited about this change and are looking forward to growing with the Masonic Family in Papillion. Job’s Daughters is very proud of our Masonic Heritage. In order to join, each member must be related to a Master Mason and we cannot open a meeting without a Master Mason present. Our Bethel is in need of an Associate Bethel Guardian who must be a Master Mason in good standing at his lodge.

From the Master

Brethern,
I wanted to congratulate WB Jim Lee on an excellent Past Masters night. We had a good turnout and superb ritual work. They continue to maintain the high standard of ritual Papillion is known for and the current officers work towards.

The CHIP event at Westroads was a success and several members from the Papillion Masonic family volunteered. Thank you for taking time away from your weekend and contributing to a worthy endeavor.

PAPILLION CHAPTER #114

Grand Chapter is now over and our Worthy Grand Matron Jerrie did a wonderful job. It was a beautiful experience for me to see and to participate in. It was great to see so many of our members taking part in one way or another.

Mind of God by Robert Morris

from Happy to Meet, Sorry to Part
A Collection of Masonic Poems and Inspirational Fraternal Thoughts
Edited by Stephen Dafoe

And can we know the mind of God,
A window to the will supreme?
And is His purpose all exposed
To human eye, so faint and dim?
Look! Open upward broadly lies
The Word of God -- the unerring Law,
Threatening and promising by turns,
As Masons yield to fear of love,
Oh, be it ours to walk therein,
And at the end have sure reward!
